Culinair genieten in Piemonte

On holiday, calories don't count, so you don't have to either! The Piedmont region is known for its 'slow food', delicious wines, truffles and of course the wonderful pizzas and pastas. We're happy to tell you about the nicest restaurants and bars during your stay with us. Here are some of our favorites…

Pizza Magnum in Tonco!

Our absolute favorite is 'Pizza Magnum 2' in Tonco, about a 5-minute drive from our B&B. Don't expect fancy set tables or waiters in tuxedos. What you can expect: the most delicious pizzas and pastas, fast but friendly service and a very reasonable bill at the end of the evening. Reservations are recommended!

We love coffee!

In the village of 'Murisengo', about a 10-minute drive from Cardona, you'll find 'Caffè Della Fontana'. The little bar isn't a big tourist attraction, but that's exactly what makes it so nice. You sit among the village residents and pick up some Italian words here and there.

A small tip: try their homemade gelato on a hot summer day!

Héérlijk eten bij 'Crealto'

Exactly one mountain over, you'll find restaurant 'Crealto'. Just follow the road up and you'll arrive there automatically! Crealto is more than just a restaurant, where you can enjoy a delicious, organic, 4-course chef's menu for only €33 per person.

They also have their own vineyards and cellar where you can do wine tastings. A wonderful combination!

Bricks...waar de italianen zelf graag komen...

About a 10-minute drive, winding through the landscape, brings you to the village of Villadeati and restaurant 'Da Maria'. The brothers Roberto (front of house) and Giorgio (in the kitchen) do their very best to give your taste buds a proper wake-up call.

Authentic Piedmontese cuisine is cooked here – genuine, honest food with local ingredients. Highly recommended!

Restaurant 'Tuais'!

You have to 'find' it (we'll explain the way!) but once you've navigated through the Italian winding roads… you suddenly see it appear: restaurant 'Tuais'. You park between the vineyards and it seems like you're entering a private home.

The (slightly eccentric) chef creates the most beautiful dishes. The entire experience feels like dining at a friend's house – very special.

Koffie of aperitief bij 'Del Gatto'

Within walking distance of the B&B (a walk through the hills of about 20 minutes) you'll find 'Caffè del Gatto'. Our local bar. Fulvio is the owner and knows everyone in the village. A super friendly man who tries to communicate with his 3 words of English.

They also serve simple but delicious meals. The perfect place for an aperitivo while watching the sunset!

Diner in een kasteel...

Op zo'n 5 minuten van onze B&B vind je Kasteel Razzano (verderop kun je al lezen over de wijnproeverij). Naast lekkere wijnen (én olijfolie van eigen maak) kun je ook gewéldig goed eten bij Razzano. In de zomer kun je heerlijk plaatsnemen op het terras in de binnentuin maar in het (misschien iets frissere) voor- of najaar kun je binnen in één van de mooie kamers plaatsnemen. Laat je culinair lekker in de watten leggen; je verdient het! Gastvrouw Giulia ('Julia' maar dan op z'n Italiaans) verstaat haar vak en heet je graag welkom.

Even wat anders; Indiaas

In Asti (op zo'n 17-18 minuutjes rijden) vind je restaurant Assaggio d'India. Als je binnenstapt waan je je even wég uit Italië (alsof je dat zou willen..??) en loop je India binnen. De brede menukaart maakt het lastig om te kiezen, want alles lijkt lekker. Wij kozen voor een menu met verschillende kleine gerechtjes, vlees, vis en groente. Héérlijk! Wij moesten met z'n tweetjes (inclusief de drankjes) ongeveer € 65,00 afrekenen, heel schappelijk.

Voor de liefhebber: sushi!

Uiteraard kom je naar Italië voor pizza, maar.... de echte liefhebber wil tijdens vakantie ook wel een keertje lekker sushi eten. In Asti kan dit op verschillende plekken. Wij zijn zelf fan van Umy Sushi. Parkeren gaat gemakkelijk op het grote Piazza van de stad. Het restaurant is hip, nieuw en de sushi (en alle andere gerechten) zijn echt top. Het is een 'all you can eat' concept maar dan met de kwaliteit van een a la carte restaurant. Prijs p.p. (in het weekend) € 29,90, excl drankjes.
